Chairman of the Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis addresses the World Conference of Parliament Speakers

He focused attention on the global challenges, press service of the Azerbaijani parliament told APA. The global financial crisis, terrorism, aggressive separatism, human and drug traffic, climate changes, food and energy security and other global problems were a subject of his address. Asadov said these problems could be eliminated only through the joint efforts of the countries. â€œWe have individual responsibility, as the countries, and collective responsibility, as the international community, to meet these challenges. Democracy has an exclusive significance for elimination of these problems. It is one of the most valuable achievements of the humanity and it can not be without a parliament, one of the valuable discoveries of the humanityâ€.

The chairman of Milli Mejlis especially emphasized the inter-parliamentary cooperation and significance of its new phase â€“ parliament diplomacy. He said Azerbaijan supported a draft declaration, which would be adopted at the end of the conference.

After the discussions, the Declaration was adopted and the three-day conference finalized its work.
