Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. Azerbaijan and Iran will discuss the number of issues of bilateral relations between the two countries during the Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s visit to Iran. Deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov said bilateral relations, as well as topical issues of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations were on agenda. He reminded that Mammadyarov is a chairman of the Azerbaijani-Iranian joint commission on economic cooperation, humanitarian and other fields and he will discuss the future plans of the commission during his visit. The sides will also discuss the regional issues and the development of future relations between the two countries.

Khalafov said the issues related to the Caspian status would also be focused during the visit. “The Caspian is a topical issue for both countries and for all Caspian littoral states as well. The summit of the leaders of the Caspian littoral countries is still on agenda and it needs to schedule it and to develop the preparation work. We have plans related to that. If there is a progress in this field, we will achieve hosting the Caspian summit in Baku”.

The deputy minister said the leaders of the Caspian littoral states were looking forward to meet in Baku and the main issue was to prepare this meeting, to coordinate its agenda and to schedule the meeting.

Khalafov said visa issue wouldn’t be discussed during the Mammadyarov’s visit to Iran.
