First Vice Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament: â€œWe cannot understand this step of the United Stateâ€

First of all, the United States always calls Azerbaijan as its strategic ally. Second, US always support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and made statements on that for many times. If we are the strategic allies, Azerbaijan should be informed about thatâ€, First Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov told APA while taking stance on the decision of US House of Representatives and Senate about the economic aid to Nagorno Karabakh in 2010. Asgarov said Nagorno Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan and Baku should be informed about the allocation of financial aid to this region.

Asgarov said it was strange that the aid was allocated in the sensitive period of the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. â€œThe negotiations entered into the most sensitive period and US also participates in this process. It is not understandable for us, as the strategic ally, financial resources were allocated in such situation. I donâ€™t know what purpose it follows. If even it was humanitarian aid, Azerbaijani side should be informed about that. If it is humanitarian aid, why it is not allocated for the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh too? The question is thatâ€. First vise speaker said he didnâ€™t understand why the United States allocates 41 dollars to Armenia. â€œUS know that Armenia occupied the territories of Azerbaijan and we have one million refugees, but despite that it allocates financial aid to this country againâ€.

US House of Representatives and Senate approved package of economic support to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh in 2010, which considers 41 million dollars of aid for Armenia and 8 million dollars for Nagorno Karabakh.

Nagorno Karabakh is an occupied region of Azerbaijan and there is a separatist regime, which declared its independence, there.
