Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan holds press conference on outcomes of the year

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolay Patskevich held a press conference on the prospects of the bilateral relations and outcomes of the year, APA reports. The ambassador said 150 mutual visits had been made between Azerbaijan and Belarus within a year. Patskevich said 95 delegations from Belarus had visited Azerbaijan, 55 delegations from Azerbaijan had visited Belarus in 2009. Patskevich said the relations were strategic and mentioned that seven documents had been signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s visit to Minsk on November 11-13.
â€œDespite the world financial crisis, trade turnover between the two countries was 105.3 million within ten months of the year, the growth rate of the turnover was 110.4 percent,â€ he said.

The diplomat said good relations had been established between Belarus and Azerbaijan in the field of joint production and added that â€œBelarusâ€ tractors were assembled in Ganja Automobile Plant. He said the 2000th tractor will be assembled early next year. The ambassador said autocranes would be produced in the plant soon.

Patskevich said the increase of the flights between Baku and Minsk had positive influence on the development of the relations and added that in summer the number of the flights would reach four. The ambassador said the activity of Azerbaijani businessmen had increased in Belarus, an Azerbaijani company had won the competition on the construction of the entertainment center â€œVostochnaya fantaziyaâ€.

Noting that the agricultural relations would develop between Belarus and Azerbaijan, the diplomat said the appropriate document would be signed, projects in artificial selection, livestock breeding, science and staff training. He also said a special lab would be established in Azerbaijan Agrarian University at the expenses of Minsk Tractor Plant.

Nikolay Patskevich said agreements on cooperation had been signed between Azerbaijanâ€™s Baku, Sumgayit cities, Khachmaz, Ismayilli, Goychay, Shaki regions and several provinces of Belarus.
