Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “OSCE participating States must commit resources and show the necessary political will to tackle human trafficking”, Eva Biaudet told the OSCE Permanent Council as she delivered her final annual report as the OSCE Special Representative for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, APA reports. Biaudet’s term ends 31 December. She has held the position since October 2006. "Fighting human trafficking is the cheapest option for governments, because doing nothing costs more, both in economic and human terms. Politicians need to include the fight in agendas and in budgets," Biaudet said. Her office’s 2009 Annual Report, titled "An agenda for change: implementing the Platform for Action against human trafficking", provides an overview of activities, achievements and challenges during her three-year term. The OSCE Office in Baku worked together with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) to implement a regional project on institutional capacity-building to combat trafficking in human beings. This included a workshop on drafting National Action Plans and a one-day seminar for judges.
