President Ilham Aliyev: â€œIf Armenia takes Azerbaijanâ€™s increasing opportunities into consideration, the issue will find its solution soonâ€

Last year we demonstrated our military techniques in the military parade and this year we demonstrated combat effectiveness of our army. I am very glad that today Azerbaijani army is able to fulfill any duty successfullyâ€, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of the socio-economic development of the first half of 2009.

The head of state said all efforts were directed toward one goal â€“ restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and withdrawal of the invasion troops from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. President Aliyev said the negotiations over the solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict were developed and Azerbaijan kept unchangeable univocal position in the negotiations. â€œOur position is based on the international norms, resolutions and decisions made by the international organizations and the issue could be solved on this legal basis. The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be restored and all occupied lands must be liberated from the invaders. The people in Nagorno Karabakh, including the Azerbaijanis to return home must live under the conditions of autonomy. This is our principal position and it is based on the norms of the international law. I hope if Armenia analyzes and takes the real situation and Azerbaijanâ€™s increasing opportunities â€“ military, economic, political and diplomatic successes â€“ into consideration, the issue will find its solution soon. We, of course, are working to solve the issue as soon as possible that our citizens could return to their homeland. The agreement must be fair and based on the international norms and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be restored completely. I consider that the proposals on the table of the negotiations can solve the issue in such mannerâ€.
