President Ilham Aliyev: â€œThe peace agreement could be signed only after the withdrawal of all occupation troops from the Azerbaijani landsâ€

The head of state said the biggest one of those threats was the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The problem was not resolved in 15 years of ceasefire regime and 20 percent of the Azerbaijanâ€™s eternal lands are under the occupation, said the President. â€œOur one million citizens became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of ethnic cleansing policy. Armenian armed forces destroyed everything, buildings, houses, schools, hospitals and mosques in the occupied lands. It must be ended and this conflict could be solved only on the basis of international law. Everyone knows the norms of international law. The leading international organization of the world â€“ the UN and its Security Council adopted 4 resolutions demanding withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the Azerbaijani lands. Unfortunately Armenia doesnâ€™t pay attention to these resolutionsâ€.

President Aliyev said OSCE, Organization of the Islamic Conference and other respected international organizations took fair position on this issue: â€œThis position is that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be restored, all occupation forces must be withdrawn from our lands. The peace agreement could be signed only after thatâ€.

The head of state expressed confidence that if the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict finds its solution soon, it will have positive impact on whole Caucasus: â€œBecause the Caucasus is a common organismâ€.
