Azerbaijani MP visits Albany in PACE pre-electoral delegation

Baku - APA. MP Ganira Pashayeva, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has visited Albania in the composition of the PACE pre-electoral delegation.

As part of the mission, she has met with the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli, Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha, heads of local and foreign non-governmental organizations, mass media, representatives of OSCE and the EU offices in Tirana, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, she told APA.

Ganira Pashayeva briefed Albanian officials about Azerbaijan’s post-independence progress, achievements, major energy and transit projects, as well as the Armenian occupation policy against Azerbaijan at meetings.

He also informed party leaders, NGOs, the media representatives about Armenian occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s lands, policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against civilians, the fact that nearly 1 million Azerbaijanis can not return to their homes for 15 years, Yerevan does not comply with UN Security Council and the Council of Europe resolution calling for the withdrawal from occupied Azerbaijani territories.

The 4-member pre-electoral delegation included Corien Jonker (the Netherlands), Head of the delegation, Indrek Saar (Estonia), Ganira Pashayeva (Azerbaijan) and Andrej Zernovski (“the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”).

The Parliamentary Assembly will send a 20-member delegation to observe the parliamentary elections on 28 June 2009.
