Brussels to host Eastern Partnership first multilateral meeting

Brussels â€“ APA. The first multilateral meeting on the Eastern Partnership Program between EU and six ex-Soviet republics will take place on June 5, 2009 in Brussels, said spokesperson of the European Commission Office in Armenia Anait Azatian, APA reports quoting Panarmenian.net. Azatian said the issues of democracy, control and stability would be focused at the meeting. The participants will draw two programs â€“ Border Integration Control and Prevention, Preparation and Response to Natural and Industrial Disasters. The meeting chaired by the representative of the European Commission aims to make the partners closer to the European criterions, to stimulate the exchange of experience and to strengthen the relations. The energy security meeting will take place on June 17, economic integration and EU policy meeting â€“ June 26.

EU Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner said the multilateral meetings are important to turn the Eastern Partnership into the successful project. â€œI hope these meetings will support reforms in the EU partner countriesâ€.
