Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic anniversary celebrations in Los Angeles

Los Angeles. Zaur Hasanov â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s Consulate General in Los Angeles organized a large dinner party and concert program in Regency Club on the occasion of 91st anniversary of Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic. Nearly 250 guests joined the event in Los Angeles, APA US bureau reports. Representatives of the consular corps in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Sheriff of Los Angeles County Leroy D. Baka, Deputy Chief of Protocol for the Los Angeles County Lourdes Saab, representatives of the Azerbaijani communities in Los Angeles, San Jose and Orange County, as well as Azerbaijan Society of America, Turkish Jewish, Georgian and Iranian communities of Los Angeles and San Francisco attended the party. Consul General Elin Suleymanov welcomed the guests and spoke about the historical significance of Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic and its first contribution to the freedom, independence, statehood, tolerance and national conscience of Azerbaijani people.

Letters of congratulation sent by governors of California, Nevada and New Mexico, mayors of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Irvine and Los Angeles County were proclaimed at the event. Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baka shared his impression about his visit to Azerbaijan. He said Azerbaijan was a modern country and called everyone to visit Azerbaijan. Sheriff Baka specially emphasized the pragmatic leadership of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and said he believed the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict would be solved soon. He emphasized that the Azerbaijani displaced persons must return home for the solution to this conflict. The Consulate General presented symbolic awards to Sheriff Baka, Azerbaijani pianist Chingiz Sadikhov, artist Sabina Rakhcheeva, representative of Mirvari International Foundation Leila Ismayilova and Deputy Chief of Protocol for the Los Angeles County Lourdes Saab. Presentation of the Mirvari International Foundation carrying out the humanitarian projects and short film about the Azerbaijani youth was held at the event. Mix pieces of Western and Azerbaijani classic music were performed at the concert program.
