Azerbaijan, Georgia sign a number of documents

The president said all projects carried out by Azerbaijan and Georgia had very significant importance for the region. “Georgia and Azerbaijan are always attaching great attention to the regional energy security and our joint efforts created completely new situation in the region now. Today, we discussed the issues of European energy security as well. Together with Georgian President we have recently participated in the event on “Southern corridorâ€, our position is unambiguous. We both defend our interests and have very useful energy cooperation with all our partners,†Ilham Aliyev said.
The head of state said cooperation in transport, construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars continued successfully.
“We defend, support each other in the international organizations, and I am sure that this mutual support will continue in future. Georgia-Azerbaijan relations are of great importance in the region. Development of our friendship and brotherhood relations are of great importance to ensure peace and stability in the region,†he said.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili underlined that economy was one of the main directions of the cooperation between the two countries.
“Georgia and Azerbaijan signed five-year contract on gas supply. It means that in the next five years Georgians will buy electricity and other energy carriers from Azerbaijan,†he said.
Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about the importance of the energy and transport projects implemented between the two countries.
“We implement strategic projects. On May 21, I will leave for Batumi on the occasion of the launching of Baku-Batumi flight. The implementation of a great construction project will soon begin in Batumi. This is the result of the cooperation between our nations and countries,†he said.
