Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. Azerbaijan’s priority during chairmanship of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation is to continue reforms to increase the efficiency of the organization and strengthen the relations with the European Union, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev told journalists, APA reports. He said that the experience of the European Union might be useful for BSEC. Mammadguliyev said events had been planned in two spheres – information technologies and elimination of emergency situations.
“Azerbaijan is the head of the working group on information technologies. In connection with this the meeting of the ministers for information technologies will be held by October 2009,” he said.

Asked whether Azerbaijan and the European Union discussed application of free trade regime, Mahmud Mammadguliyev said the European Union was holding talks in that field only with the members of the World Trade Organization.
“As Azerbaijan is not the member of the World Trade Organization, this issue is not discussed with us. But we have been given general system of preferences. Azerbaijan can export 6,000 products without paying any customs duties. The preference was given to Azerbaijan by the US and EU. Therefore, trade with the EU countries is possible even without entering the World Trade Organization,” he said.
