- After her meeting with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on May 5 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Azerbaijan has not only regional, but global significance as well. What points are behind this statement?

- Mrs. Clinton said she was directed to work with Azerbaijan and to develop bilateral relations. It is in the picture from many points: solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict, energy security, anti-terror war and etc. At the very beginning in her office Mrs. Clinton expressed readiness to work with Azerbaijan. The Secretary of State sent this message in our meeting during the presidential inauguration in January too. The United States values the growing role of Azerbaijan in the region. This is undeniable fact. Azerbaijanâ€™s official support to the Southern Corridor at the Energy Summit in Prague on May 8 can be an example for that. Europe has many gas supply projects and if you review the possible routes of those pipelines you can see that they canâ€™t be realized without Azerbaijan. Mrs. Clinton took it into consideration and focused on the regional and global role of Azerbaijan.

- The Carnegie Foundation will host the conference â€œAzerbaijan and the West: strategic alliance in the Eurasian corridorsâ€. This is first conference on Azerbaijan initiated just by the American experts in Washington.

- This conference shows that the US scientific and analytical centers accept the Azerbaijanâ€™s role as a fact. It is not casually that there are more than 10 largest analytical centers in Washington. These centers send messages to the White House, Congress and the State Department via various conferences and workshops. The US foreign policy is always on the run. It is often that the expert of the analytical center is invited to work for the government or former government official continues his professional activity at the analytical centers. Therefore messages of the local influential analytical centers are not out of the attention. The conference at the Carnegie Foundation on May 14 is organized on the initiative of just American experts, who intend to send messages about Azerbaijan to the White House and the Congress. It shows the objective reality of the US attitude toward Azerbaijan. We will also join this conference and will make our contribution.
