EURO 2016: Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Baku-APA. A goal from Republic of Ireland’s Wes Hoolahan and an own goal from teammate Ciaran Clark resulted in a 1-1 draw against Sweden at the Euro 2016 Group E match in Paris on Monday, APA reports.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic led Sweden’s attack in its opening game and it was his cross that was turned in by Clark into his own goal after Hoolahan’s volley off Seamus Coleman’s cross gave the Irish the lead after half-time.

Ibrahimovic is playing in his fourth straight European Championships and will set a tournament record if he maintains his standard of scoring in each one.

Walters had extra training alone last week trying to beat a calf injury and will partner Shane Long up front, with Ireland’s record goal scorer Robbie Keane not picked to start.
