Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest football stars ever, told Vogue in an interview released on Sunday that the 2026-2027 season is likely his "last year of football", APA reports.
"I want to leave a spectacular legacy ... It's been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice," the Portuguese national said, adding that he is ready to spend more time with his family. "I have so many things to keep me busy ... Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one," he remarked.
While he doesn't have a FIFA World Cup win under his belt, the athlete has one UEFA European Championship trophy and five UEFA Champions League titles. The 41-year-old is also a five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or, as well as a four-time Golden Boot winner. Ronaldo is currently the all-time leading goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League, with 140 goals.
