CBA told APA-Economics that the indices on Consumer Confidence and Inflation Expectations are calculated on the basis of results of the survey.
Respondents (4,250 households) participating in the survey covered all regions and are classified basing on their income level, employment, job, education, age and sex.
For holding of this survey, “The Joint Harmonised EU Programme of Business and Consumer Surveys” adopted by European Commission, “Business Tendensy Surveys: A Handbook” made by Statistics Department of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and technical support of KOF Swiss Economic Institute were used as a methodological base.
Results of the survey have been estimated with the balance method used in foreign experience. Balance Method reflects difference between positive and negative responses. The arisen difference is called an index characterizing any appearance on the component and estimated with the basis point. Approach to peak points reflects strengthening or weakening of inclination on component.
According to results of the survey, the Consumer Confidence Index was calculated at the level of 30.01 basis points. This index is sufficient high in the international experience and reflects consumer expectations, optimist sentiment. At the same time, the respondents said they expect low inflation next months.
This survey is planned to be held regularly. Results of these surveys will be used analyzing and forecasting the inflation and other macroeconomic indicators.
