In 2025–2026, oil prices will decline, and there will be fluctuations in the gas market, APA-Economics reports, citing the forecast by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the research and analysis division of The Economist Group.
According to the report, the average price of Brent crude oil is expected to be 67.1 USD per barrel in 2025 and 63 USD per barrel in 2026. This indicates that the downward tendency in the oil market will continue compared to previous years.
The price of natural gas at Henry Hub is forecasted to rise to 4.1 USD/mmBtu in 2025 and remain at the same level in 2026. In the European market, gas prices are expected to reach 12.1 USD/mmBtu in 2025 and decrease to 9.3 USD/mmBtu in 2026.
According to the EIU's assessment, over the next two years, the global energy market will be characterized by a decline in oil prices and sharp volatility in the gas market.
Note that the average price of Azerbaijani oil in the state budget has been set at USD 70 per barrel for this year, and USD 65 for the next year.
