Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia can hit record this year, said the head of Russia's trade representation in Azerbaijan Yuri Shedrin.
According to him, the trade turnover between two countries doubled during 5 years: “In January-September, according to Russian Statistical Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia made $ 2,315.4 mln, up 13.1% from previous year. State Statistical Committee says the trade turnover between two countries decreased by 26.8% to $ 1,554.2 mln in comparison to a year earlier. The difference was arisen from their method. Generally, such cases are faced in world practice”.
Shedrin also noted that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia hit record in 2011 and made more than $3 bln: “According to Russian Statistical Committee, the trade turnover will reach $3.1 bln this year. Average monthly turnover is $300,000”.
Shedrin says Russia is one of the main commercial partners of Azerbaijan.
Speaking about Russia’s embargo on grain export Shedrin stressed that Azerbaijan imported 90% of grain from Kazakhstan and only 9% is exported from Russia: “I hope that the cooperation in this sphere will be resumed”.
He also touched upon natural gas import from Azerbaijan and noted that Azerbaijan exported 1 bcm of gas to Russia during 10 months of 2012: “According to contract signed between the sides, 3 bcm of gas can be exported per year, but the sides did not approach to this volume”.
