Azerbaijan sees 22% rise in troubled loans year-on-year

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. As of October 1, 2012, the volume of local credits given by Azerbaijan-based commercial banks and credit organizations to population grew 18.8% to AZN 11.5 bn.

State Statistical Committee told APA that 33.8% of lending was realized by state, 63.5% - private banks, 2.7% - non-banking credit organizations.

During the reporting period, long-term loans made AZN 8,228.2 mln, short-term loans – AZN 3,252.6 mln, overdue credits – AZN 757.9 mln.

Compared to last year, long-term lending rose 26.1%, overdue credits grew by 22.2%, and short-term lending soared 3.4%.
