A joint development bank may be established for Turkic states, Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye's Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and a member of parliament from Ankara, said at the 2nd International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of the Organization of Turkic States held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that the Turkic Investment Fund continues its activities and has already formed a substantial budget.
Zorlu stated that the next important project for the Turkic world to gain a stronger position in the global financial sphere could be the establishment of a joint development bank.
“As Türkiye, we have prepared a study in this direction. We have translated the document we prepared into the languages of other Turkic states and will submit it to the Secretariat General of the Organization of Turkic States,” he emphasized.
According to him, such a financial institution would not only utilize existing budgetary resources but also create new financing opportunities, particularly by providing credit and support mechanisms for businesspeople in the development of the Middle Corridor.
Zorlu also noted that cooperation within the Turkic world toward a common alphabet is of great importance.
He stated that Uzbekistan has begun a new process of changes aimed at harmonization with the 34-letter common alphabet.
Zorlu added that Türkiye views the Middle Corridor not merely as a transport route but as a platform that creates broader economic opportunities.
