The assets of the banking sector in Azerbaijan reached 55.7 billion manat, APA-Economics reports, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
As of the end of August 2025, the total assets of operating banks amounted to 55 billion 672.4 million manat, liabilities amounted to 48 billion 595.3 million manat, and balance capital amounted to 7 billion 77.1 million manat.
In the reporting month, the loan portfolio increased by 0.7% or 206.7 million manat to 28 billion 704.9 million manat. 52.6% of loans (15 billion 91.8 million manat) were business loans, 31.7% (9 billion 114.5 million manat) were consumer loans, and 15.7% (4 billion 498.6 million manat) were mortgage loans.
Deposits dominated the structure of bank liabilities. At the end of the month, the deposit portfolio amounted to 36 billion 517.8 million manat, which is equal to 75.1% of total liabilities. 58.7% of deposits (21 billion 431.8 million manat) belonged to legal entities, and 41.3% (15 billion 86 million manat) to individuals.
67.3% (10 billion 149.5 million manat) of deposits of individuals were placed in national currency, 32.7% (4 billion 936.5 million manat) in foreign currency. 63.4% of deposits (9 billion 560.8 million manat) are term deposits. In August, term deposits increased by 0.4% or 40.9 million manat.
In August 2025, the number of unique term depositors in the banking sector increased by 2.3% (3,949 people) during the month, and by 18% (27,132 people) since the beginning of the year.
