As of January 1 this year, the assets of the Azerbaijani banking sector amounted to AZN 53 billion, APA-Economics reports.
This is 7.8% or AZN 3.8 billion more in comparison with January 1 last year. In 2023, the sector's total assets amounted to AZN 49 billion 178.2 million.
Last year, AZN 27 billion 477.9 million of banks' assets were loans to customers. Over the past 1 year, the sector's loan portfolio grew by 18.5%, and the share of loans in assets increased from 47.1% to 51.8%.
During the reporting period, the banking sector's liabilities increased by 8.7% to AZN 46 billion 383 million, including a deposit portfolio increase of 5.9% to AZN 37 billion 696.5 million.
The sector's balance sheet capital increased by 9.2% to AZN 6 billion 618.4 million.
