On September 29, Minister of Finance and the Governor for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Azerbaijan, Sahil Babayev, received a delegation led by Bhargav Dasgupta, Vice President of the ADB, who is on a visit to the country, the Ministry of Finance told APA.
Minister Sahil Babayev, highly appreciating the long-term cooperation with the ADB, stated that joint initiatives implemented through loans, grants, and technical assistance have made a significant contribution to the country’s development agenda.
The minister also expressed confidence that close cooperation would continue in the implementation of the ADB’s Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan for 2025–2029.
Providing information on the current economic situation, the minister highlighted the achievements in the development of the non-oil sector. Priorities such as improving the water supply and sewage systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, financing the infrastructure needs of the Baku Metro, and modernizing railway lines were noted.
Bhargav Dasgupta expressed confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) would be further strengthened across all areas, including support for the private sector, and would continue in the future based on long-term partnership principles.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB, private sector development, possible support from the bank in this area, future partnership opportunities, and other matters of mutual interest.
