Baku - APA-Economics. The International Monetary Fund’s Board has postponed the meeting, earlier expected to take place late Sunday, pending further developments in New York, The Nation reported.

William Murray, an IMF spokesman, in a statement released at 11pm Bangkok time, said that the meeting was for the briefing on developments related to IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn who was arrested in New York on sexual assault.

According to Caroline Atkinson, director of External Relations, the managing director has retained legal counsel and "The IMF remains fully functioning and operational."

Under the protocol, John Lipsky, First Deputy Managing Director, is Acting Managing Director while the MD is not in DC. Lipsky will chair the informal Board session.
