Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday that “the most intensive work ever” is underway with US President Donald Trump’s team ahead of the Ukrainian leader’s visit to Saudi Arabia next week for negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, APA reports citing CNN.
“Today, the most intensive work ever has been going on all day with President Trump’s team at various levels — many calls. The topic is clear — peace as soon as possible, security as reliably as possible. Ukraine is as constructively oriented as possible,” Zelenskyy said in his daily address.
According to Zelenskyy, Kyiv continues working with its partners “on the appropriate steps” toward peace in Ukraine. He says his team is preparing for the meeting “to accelerate peace and strengthen the foundations of security” with American officials in Saudi Arabia next week.
Zelenskyy also commented on the major aerial assault on Ukraine launched by Russia overnight where several regions were targeted with dozens of missiles and drones.
“This Russian strike on our energy system, on our civilian objects, took place as casually for Russia, as cowardly and cynically as always, as if there were no efforts from Ukraine and the world to end this war,” he said, adding that “Ukraine is ready for peace as soon as possible.”
