Baku-APA. At least two police officers have been martyred in an attack perpetrated by PKK terrorists in the southeastern Turkish province of Sirnak late Monday, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

Police said that PKK terrorists attacked a moving armored police vehicle with rocket launchers.

One police officer was martyred at the scene while another succumbed to his wounds at Sirnak Public Hospital where he was taken to, along with 10 other injured officers.

Turkish security forces have killed 544 PKK terrorists in three districts of southeastern provinces of Diyarbakir and Sirnak since counter-terror operations began in Dec. 15, according to Turkish General Staff's latest statement issued Saturday.

The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed attacks against the Turkish state in late July last year.
