More than 52 million citizens having voting right can vote in 194.3 thousand polling stations.
Only in the largest metropolis of the country – Istanbul about 40 thousand policemen will be watching for the security during the voting and counting the outcome. Citizens to choose provincial governors, mayors, members of the provincial parliament, the State Council, heads of municipalities, rural and district chiefs and members of rural Mejlises. Polling stations will be open at 7:00 am and work until 17:00.
26 political parties will participate in the election. The main struggle will be among the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the National Action Party (MHP).
Given the importance of municipal elections in Turkey the struggle for the municipalities will be in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
