According to a statement from the Ä°stanbul Police Department, the two suspects who are suspected of carrying an attack around the Yenibosna bus stop were detained on Monday.
Reports say police seized a hard disc from one of the suspects, which included documents suggesting that the terrorist group planned terrorist attacks targeting deputies, police buildings and members of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (TÜSÄ°AD).
The DHKP-C is a Marxist group that has been behind a series of assassinations and suicide bombings, including fatal attacks on the US Embassy. Turkish police have also been a frequent target. The United States, European Union and Turkey list it as a terrorist organization.
Most recently, Ä°stanbul Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz was taken hostage by two DHKP/C gunmen in his office on the afternoon of March 31 and killed that evening after a shootout with special forces. The day after the Ä°stanbul Courthouse attack, Elif Sultan Kalsen, a female DHKP/C terrorist, was shot dead by police when she tried to attack the Ä°stanbul Police Department's headquarters.
