The Armenian ambassador was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze, who expressed his extreme concern over the meeting between Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Galust Sahakyan and the representative of Russia’s occupation regime in the Tskhinvali region - so-called South Ossetian parliamentary speaker.

Gigi Gigiadze emphasized that this fact runs counter to the spirit of traditionally friendly relations between Georgia and Armenia causing damage to the bilateral relations.

The deputy FM also expressed his confusion at the reports of the alleged informal character of the meeting underlining that Georgia considers as totally unacceptable any kind of communication with representatives of the occupation regime by officials of the partner country.

On his part, the Armenian ambassador expressed his regret over this fact stating that Georgia’s position will me immediately communicated to Yerevan.

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili has also talked with his Armenian counterpart Hovik Abrahamyan about the meeting. The Armenian PM said in a telephone conversation that de-facto Ossetian speaker Anatoly Bibilov paid a private visit to Nagorno-Karabakh on a non-working day and had an informal communication with Galust Sahakyan.
