Georgia should have strong defense capabilities, said U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly.
The U.S. and Georgia enjoy good military cooperation, the envoy said at a meeting with Georgia’s Defense Minister Levan Izoria in Tbilisi on Tuesday, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.
“To achieve even greater success, Georgia should have strong defense capabilities so that it can prevent aggression against the country and stop external forces that can harm it,” he noted.
The U.S. has finalized the first stage of the delivery of Javelin anti-tank guided missile complexes to Georgia. The total estimated cost of the military equipment is $75 million.
