"A draft agreement has just been submitted by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General. It aimed at enabling the rapid forming of a national unity government to rebuild the Libyan institutions and economy, and combat terrorism and criminal networks," said Romain Nadal, French Foreign Ministry's spokesperson.

"France urges the Libyan parties to opt for compromise and unity by signing this agreement without delay. It stands by all Libyans who defend the higher interests of their country," Nadal added at a daily electronic press briefing.

Since the 2011 uprising to oust leader Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has plunged into chaotic violence, putting at risk the security in the Maghreb region.
