Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. The European Commission has prepared a package to provide €11bn financial aid to Ukraine, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said in Brussels, APA reports. He said the European Union is ready to provide financial support to Ukraine over the next couple of years. The package includes grants worth €1.4bn and €3bn from the European Investment Bank.
Barroso stated that the EU is ready to increase the support to Ukraine in energy sphere and sign an association agreement with Ukraine.
“Our most immediate priority is to contribute to a peaceful solution to the current crisis in Ukraine. In parallel, the international community should mobilise to help Ukraine stabilise its economic and financial situation,” said Barroso.
