Other notable individuals affected are Yanukovych's son Alexander and others including former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Krone Zeitung reported.
Spindelegger said the accounts were locked as a temporary precautionary measure until relevant European Union measures can come into effect.
He added the Ukranian government had specifically requested the action and provided justification for why each of the 18 accounts should be frozen.
Spindelegger stressed however that the decision had only been made to freeze the accounts, and that the funds would not expire.
