According to an APA correspondent to Turkey, first delegates of the Congress was shown a video about the history and the 13-year rule of this party in Turkey. Also, a documentary about the life and political activities of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, thr founder of the AKP and current president of the country, was displayed. Youth chanted slogans such as “Ya Allah”, “Bismillah”, “Allahu Akbar!”, “Islam will triumph!”, etc.
AKP Chairman, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu addressed party members and activists gathered in front of the building before entering the meeting room. He said that there are internal and external attempts to pressure members of the party, adding that “the people will give the decent response to this during the elections on November 1 by giving the AKP flag to government".
AKP Deputy Chairman responsible for organizations, Suleyman Soylu, opened the congress which is joined by 1275 representatives. The Azerbaijani delegation includes Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Bahar Muradova, Deputy chairwoman of YAP Women`s Council, MP Sevinj Huseynova, MPs Malahat Ibrahimqizi and Ayaz Afandiyev.
Out of respect for the souls of the martyrs and because the fight against terrorism is ingoing, Ahmet Davutoglu did not allow music to be played in the hall.
