Baku-APA. A total of 29 parties have registered for the upcoming election to the European Parliament (EP) in the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), according to local news agency TASR on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Eva Chmelova, Secretary of the CEC, specified that the 29 parties that the committee registered complied with all the requirements and contain a total of 333 candidates, including 80 women, TASR reported.
Slovaks will elect 13 EP representatives on May 24, it will be the third EP election in Slovakia.
In the last election which held in 2009, 16 political parties competed for seats in the EP. Only 19.64 percent of all possible voters turned up at the polling stations, which was the lowest in the whole European Union.
