Baku-APA. A 13-year-old student armed with a home-made crossbow and a knife killed a teacher and attacked four other people on Monday at a secondary school here, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The four people wounded were two teachers and two students. They were not seriously injured. A teacher has already been discharged from the hospital.
The event happened at around 9:20 a.m. local time (0720 GMT) at Joan Fuster secondary school in the neighborhood of La Sagrera when the student arrived late for class and knocked on the door of his classroom. When the teacher opened it he shot at her at close range and also attacked her daughter, who is also a student.
Another teacher went to the class after hearing screams and was stabbed and died shortly afterwards. The 36-year-old was a substitute teacher and had been teaching at the secondary school for 10 days.
The student then attacked another teacher and student by the 13-year-old student who was finally forcibly contained by a different teacher until the police arrived.
The attacker left the building with his parents and the police. According to Spanish law, he cannot be arrested due to his young age and is currently in hospital undergoing a physical and psychological examination. Reasons for the attack remain unknown, but police did not rule out mental problems.
