“The US strikes on Iran are in no way a violation of international law,” said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a press conference held as part of the alliance’s summit in The Hague, APA reports.

"I don’t believe the U.S. strike violated international law," he said.

Rutte emphasized that NATO's long-standing position is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons:
"NATO allies have agreed that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons — not now, not in three, five, or seven years."

Addressing a question on whether NATO seeks regime change in Iran, Rutte noted:
"The world must ensure that Iran does not expand its nuclear capabilities. In recent years, NATO has actively engaged in global matters beyond its traditional scope to protect member territories. Iran, China, and North Korea’s support for Russia is concerning. My biggest concern regarding Iran is the possibility of it acquiring nuclear weapons, which would pose a serious threat to Israel and the broader region."

He concluded by reiterating NATO’s position: Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear arms, and he disagreed with claims that the U.S. actions violated international law.
