In January, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a series of strikes on the Kapustin Yar training ground in Russia, from which the Russians launched Oreshnik missiles at Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, APA reports, citing RBC-Ukraine.
"During January 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful strikes on a complex of hangar-type buildings, where pre-launch preparation of medium-range intercontinental ballistic missiles takes place at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region, Russia," the statement says.
According to the Ukrainian military, the series of strikes was carried out using Ukrainian-made long-range strike weapons, in particular, the FP-5 Flamingo.
According to Ukraine's General Staff, based on available information, some of the buildings at the test site were damaged to varying degrees, one of the hangars was significantly damaged, and some of the personnel were evacuated from the area.
