"Russia cannot sell its gas to us, and there is no one else to buy their gas. They just burn this gas. Satellite images show that the gas is extracted and simply flared. This is the release of a large amount of methane gas into the air. In other words, they simply burn the gas that we do not buy, because Russia does not have an alternative customer," he said.
Borrell added that the war is bad news for the fight against climate change: "Today, we cannot talk to Russia about climate change, because now they have a different priority."
