The Center for Political Research operating under the Institute of Political Studies in France published the results of a public opinion survey titled “What Do the French Trust?” in February (attached), APA reports.
The survey was conducted by the "Opinion Way" organization of France:
- Trust in the government is very low – only 23%. The trust in Prime Minister François Bayrou is also very low – 27%.
- 23% trust in President E. Macron.
- Trust in national institutions is also very low. The trust in the French National Assembly (NA) is only 24%.
- Only 40% of the French trust their own MPs.
- More than half (52%) of the French believe there is nothing to be proud of in the country’s democratic system.
- 72% emphasize that democracy is functioning poorly in the country.
- 48% of the French think that no issues are progressing under democracy and support the idea of having less democracy and more efficiency. 73% wish for a true leader to restore order in France.
- Amid the ongoing political chaos in the country, 65% of the French prefer to focus on their personal lives rather than politics.
