Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has called on his citizens not to travel to Belarus and Russia again, lest they become hostages of political games, APA reports, citing RMF24.
When asked about the situation of Polish monk Grzegorz Havel, who was demonstrably detained in Belarus in early September and accused of espionage, Sikorski said that the actions of the Belarusian authorities were unacceptable, but stressed that Havel had visited this country despite the warnings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"There are countries like Belarus and Russia that simply take people hostage - and we do not always find 'our own hostages' to change... I ask you again, I beg you: do not go there. Whoever goes does so at their own risk. Then do not blame the Polish state," Radoslaw Sikorski emphasized.
The minister added that Poland is looking for ways to release the detained citizen.
"If it were up to us, the Poles arrested in Belarus would have been freed long ago," he noted.
