"NATO to create a special mechanism and post of a special envoy to combat terrorism," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference held in Vilnius after a tripartite meeting with the President of Turkiye and the Prime Minister of Sweden, APA reports.
Sweden's cooperation with Turkiye in the fight against terrorism will continue even after the accession process.
"Today, Turkiye and Sweden agreed to sign a new bilateral security agreement. NATO will also take important steps in this area. I want to announce that for the first time, a special coordinator post for the fight against terrorism will be created in NATO. Sweden's membership will contribute to the security of the entire Alliance in this difficult time," said Stoltenberg.
