Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has warned that Russia’s growing impunity poses a threat to Europe, calling for stronger Western action after Russian drones violated Polish airspace during a large-scale attack on Ukraine, APA reports.
“Russian drones flying into Poland during the massive attack on Ukraine show that Putin’s sense of impunity keeps growing because he was not properly punished for his previous crimes,” Sybiha wrote on X. “Putin just keeps escalating, expanding his war, and testing the West. The longer he faces no strength in response, the more aggressive he gets.”
Sybiha stressed that a weak reaction would only embolden Moscow further, potentially leading to Russian missiles and drones striking deeper into Europe. He urged NATO partners to allow their air defense systems in neighboring countries to intercept Russian threats over Ukrainian airspace, particularly near alliance borders.
“Ukraine has suggested such step for a long time. It needs to be taken for the sake of collective security,” he said, while also appealing for an urgent boost in air defense support.
The minister further called for tightening sanctions on Moscow, arguing that only strong transatlantic pressure would compel Russia to take peace talks seriously. “The Russian war machine must be stopped—and it can only be stopped by strength, not weakness,” Sybiha emphasized.
