“Threatening the Georgian people with the suspension of the visa-free regime shows that the European bureaucracy is in a difficult situation," said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to him, such a threat is an attempt by the European Union to blackmail Georgia.

“This instrument of blackmail has become so devalued that Georgian society no longer reacts to it at all. Over the past years, such attempts have lost their significance, and we are observing that people remain indifferent to all of this. Previously, the reaction was much stronger. Now, however, society has stopped reacting,” Kobakhidze added.

The Prime Minister stressed that Georgian society is sufficiently informed about the processes taking place in the country and will not succumb to blackmail.

Note that on June 11, a dialogue will be held between the European Union and Georgia regarding the possible suspension of the visa-free travel regime.

Recall that the visa-free regime between Georgia and the EU has been in force since March 28, 2017.
