The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said that he was optimistic about the European Commission's decision regarding Georgia's EU candidate status "based on the impressions" he had recently received from the meetings he held in Brussels, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
According to him, his country deserves the status of an EU candidate: "During the visit, I informed our friends about the steps taken by the government. The full report was presented to European Commission. I believe that we should wait patiently for the decision. I told them that the current situation in Europe and the world, the destructive war in Ukraine has completely changed the agenda. Alienating Georgia would be a strategic mistake by the West, and it is not in the interest of either the West or Georgia".
