"Georgia and Kazakhstan can play an important role in terms of transport between Europe and Asia," said Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
Alikhan Smailov noted that during the meeting between the Prime Ministers, special attention was paid to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
He pointed out that cargo turnover in this direction increased by 2 times and container transportation by 30 percent last year. He added that the positive dynamics of the corridor continues today.
"In this direction, we intend to increase the freight turnover to 10 million tons in the medium-term perspective. To achieve this, the parties are successfully implementing the joint instruction on the development of the corridor and the elimination of obstacles in synchronous mode in 2022-2027," said Alikhan Smailov.
