The European Union (EU) has refused to provide military aid to Armenia from a special fund designed to increase the defense capabilities of EU partners, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan said, APA reports citing Armenian service of "Radio Liberty".

Simonyan complained about the refusal of the EU while meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

He told Duda that the Armenian government has asked for "technical assistance" from the European Peace Fund (EPF) created by the EU in 2021 to help developing countries buy military equipment.

"Through this mechanism, the EU allocates aid to Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. Unfortunately, the EU's mediation efforts to improve relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the issue of "conflict sensitivity", were rejected by Armenia. I want to say once again that we are talking about technical assistance aimed at increasing Armenia's defense capabilities," Simonyan added.
