The European Union's defense plan may require 800 billion euros to ensure a strong and secure Europe, said the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, APA reports.
The President of the European Commission proposed a plan to rearm the EU with an 800 billion euro budget, as well as to raise 650 billion euros for arms production by increasing current defense spending by 1.5%.
Additionally, Ursula von der Leyen intends to raise 150 billion euros in credits for air defense systems within the EU and the production of weapons for Ukraine.
