Poland’s airspace was violated by numerous Russian drones overnight, said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, APA reports.
He said that “those unmanned aerial vehicles, which posed a direct threat, were shot down.”
“Thanks to the resolute stance of our commanders, soldiers, pilots, and also our allies, the threat was eliminated,” Tusk added.
The head of government noted that “Poland is most likely facing a large-scale provocation.”
“For the first time, Russian drones are being shot down over the territory of a NATO country. That’s why all our allies are taking the situation very seriously,” Tusk emphasized.
According to him, “no casualties have been recorded,” and the search for the remains of the downed unmanned aerial vehicles is ongoing.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that “cooperation between institutions has been exemplary.”
“This is an important lesson for all of us. We are ready to repel such provocations and attacks. We are well-prepared, and the situation is serious. Today, no one can doubt that we must be ready for various scenarios,” the Prime Minister stated.
He also noted that currently, there is no basis for imposing any restrictions that would complicate citizens’ daily lives.
