In districts like Esenyurt and Ümraniye in Istanbul, Türkiye, a total of 46 people sought hospital treatment due to counterfeit alcohol, while the number of those who lost their lives despite all interventions has reached to 17, APA reports citing En Haberler.
Work is ongoing regarding the fake alcohol operation carried out with the participation of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch and teams affiliated with district police departments.
It has been determined that a total of 46 people applied to the hospital in the districts of Şişli, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Kağıthane, Esenyurt, Ümraniye, Üsküdar, and Bakırköy. Among those who went to the hospital, 17 people lost their lives, while the treatment of 22 people is ongoing. 7 people have been discharged.
An operation was conducted against suspects identified as selling fake alcohol. A total of 19 suspects were detained in the operation. Of the suspects whose procedures were completed at the police station, 8 were arrested and sent to prison by the court to which they were referred. Police work is ongoing.
